CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Illinois State Fair in Springfield will switch to digital ticketing in 2026 for faster entry starting Aug. 13. Fairgoers are urged to download tickets beforehand and redeem Mega & Jumbo Passes for photo IDs beginning in June at the Emmerson Building. The State Journal-Register

- ➤ Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias warned Springfield residents against scam texts claiming they owe money for traffic tickets or tolls—these phishing attempts aim to steal personal information, and anyone receiving such a message should report it online. WYMG
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Illinois Department of Public Health announced new laws set for 2026, including one that lets terminally ill patients request end-of-life aid (SB1950 effective in September) and another requiring bias training for maternal care, while a third law will help track overdoses for timely interventions. - ➤ IDPH announced new public health laws for 2026 that include SB1950, a Medical Aid In Dying law effective in September, HB2517 that requires a one-hour implicit bias training for maternal care, and HB3645 to help track overdoses using EMS reports — each intended to improve care. Capitol City Now

- ➤ At North Mac Holiday Hoopfest, the Chiefs won 46-41 over PORTA after holding off a late surge that narrowed a nine-point lead. Dalia DeJesus earned tournament MVP and PORTA will play Calhoun on Friday. WNNS
