BUSINESS NEWS

  • Baskin Robbins is rebuilding its store on South MacArthur after the original was damaged in June; the company announced on Friday that construction is underway with a grand opening planned for spring or summer 2026.  WYMG
  • Baskin Robbins announced on Friday that construction is underway at the original South MacArthur location — the former storefront was destroyed in June when a van hit the building and one person was injured — with a grand opening expected in Spring or Summer 2026.  WYMG

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Mt Pulaski Hilltoppers secured a pool-play win over Tolono Unity at the Riverton Christmas Classic on Saturday, raising their record to 11-0. They will face Litchfield on Monday at 6 p.m. at Riverton.  WNNS
  • The Deer Creek Mackinaw Chiefs won 51-48 over PORTA at the Williamsville Holiday Tournament and will play Warrensburg Latham in the semifinals on Monday at 6 p.m.—PORTA will meet IVC at 3 p.m.  WNNS
  • Dee Mack (the Chiefs) won 64-37 over Auburn at North Mac’s Holiday Hoopfest, building a strong lead with the first nine points. The team will face Pawnee Monday at noon in the semifinals.  WNNS
  • PORTA defeated Athens 50-37 on Saturday in the Holiday Hoopfest quarterfinals as senior guard Aubrey Vogel led the Bluejays — they will face Hillsboro on Monday in the semifinals.  WMAY
  • Adam Abell nearly achieved a triple double as he led Routt to a 61—35 win over Pawnee on Saturday, Dec. 27. The undefeated Rockets—11—0—will play the winner of the Carrollton and North Greene game in the Waverly semifinals Monday at 2 p.m.  WNNS
  • North Mac beat West Central 58-39 on December 27, 2025, advancing to Monday’s semifinal. The Panthers limited a Cougars team missing Ryker Ford and will face the winner of the Athens and Triopia game.  WNNS
  • During day two of the 75th Waverly Holiday Tournament on Saturday night, Triopia beat Athens 49-48 in overtime after Avery Neathery hit the game-winning shot with 2.5 seconds left. The team will face North Mac in the semifinals Monday night.  WNNS
  • The Williamsville Bullets won 63-44 over Prairie Central on Dec. 27 to move into the Holiday Tournament semifinals — they will face Tremont Monday at 7:30 p.m. with Brody Neuhoff and Nolan Bryant leading the team.  WNNS
