The friendly stray has adjusted well at the Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center since arriving in September and is available for adoption, foster, or foster-to-adopt during shelter hours (Mon.-Fri. 10:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m., Sat. 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.). - ➤ CWLP crews are repairing a 24-inch water main break on the 3100 block of S. Fourth St. today at 12:30 p.m., which will leave about 80 customers without water for several hours. WAND-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Illinois Department of Public Health has released its first report on alcohol use in Illinois. The report shows that teen drinking, binge drinking, and higher traffic fatalities linked to alcohol — findings that will guide future health programs statewide. WAND-TV
- ➤ Since late October, Illinois has seen more flu cases with 245 positive tests and 53 cases in early December. Hospital admissions stayed low at 0.73% on Dec. 15 (showing that flu season has started) as experts noted that cold weather can help viruses spread. The State Journal-Register
