- ➤ Buzz Bomb Brewing Company, a downtown staple known for community events, will close on Jan. 1, 2026 & host a series of final live shows, comedy, trivia and a movie night ending with a New Year's Eve celebration. ABC 20
- ➤ A Taste of Seoul, a beloved Korean fusion bistro, announced on Friday, Dec. 12 that it will close its doors and thanked Buzz Bomb Brewing Company for supporting its journey. The owner expressed deep gratitude to the community and staff for making the dream possible. ABC 20
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Sangamon County Board approved nearly $800,000 in state grant funding to help the Greater Springfield Chamber create job initiatives for high school and college students in Springfield. The funds will be used over five years for monthly programs including resume development and job shadowing. WYMG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Pritzker signed Senate Bill 1950 that allows terminally ill adults to self-administer prescribed life-ending medication, with the law taking effect in September 2026. Religious groups and disability advocates oppose the measure, arguing for improved palliative care. WYMG
- ➤ Gov. JB Pritzker signed a law on Friday requiring the Illinois Department of Insurance to set a new formula for minimum reimbursement rates (aiming to boost access to behavioral health and substance use treatment) that will take effect Jan. 1, 2027. WAND-TV
- ➤ The City of Springfield declared a snow emergency from 7 a.m. Saturday to noon Tuesday — no parking will be allowed on designated routes beginning at 11:00 p.m. tonight. WMAY
