- ➤ Residents gathered at Farm and Home Supply on the west side today to donate food, toys, and gifts for children, families, and pets at the annual Joy of Sharing event. - ➤ Illinois health officials oppose the federal advisory group's move to limit Hepatitis B vaccinations for newborns — citing that universal vaccinations have reduced infections since 1991. Dr. Sameer Vohra said the state will keep its vaccine guidelines unchanged. WYMG
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Eisenhower Panthers defeated Southeast 39-28 in game four of the Capital City Showcase on Dec. 6. Their 9-0 runs in the first and third quarters led to the win, and Garryon Henderson earned player of the game honors with 14 points. WNNS
- ➤ Lincoln had three players score in double figures as the CS8 team beat Jacksonville 50-38 on Saturday at the BOS center. Karson Komnick led with 19 points while Masen Johnson added 14 in the game. WNNS
- ➤ Saturday at the Bank of Springfield Center, eight teams competed in Showcase Saturday, featuring a mix of nonconference and conference openers. Calvary led with a 46-33 win over Williamsville while PORTA, Glenwood and Eisenhower also posted key wins in a full day of competitive play. The State Journal-Register
- ➤ Yesterday, Springfield High rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to complete a 12-0 run in the third quarter and secure a 48-39 win over Lanphier, with Noah Wade earning player of the game honors (12 points and 10 rebounds). WMAY
