- ➤ Springfield public works director Dave Fuchs said Saturday's pumpkin smash at Lake Springfield let local children use baseball bats to break pumpkins for compost that will help next year's crops+ the event also featured a food drive, a touch-a-truck and shredding. WYMG
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State health officials advised parents not to use a recalled powdered infant formula called ByHeart after two Illinois infants showed suspected botulism symptoms on November 8. The department recalled two lots – 206VABP/251261P2 and 206VABP/251131P2 – and said it is investigating additional products while the formula remains on sale at major retailers, making up only 1% of the market. 25 News

- ➤ On Saturday, Maroa Forsyth beat Johnston City 41-6 at Walter Boyd Field to move into the 2A quarterfinals — the Trojans will host Flora next Saturday at 2 p.m. WNNS
- ➤ Matthew Miller scored four touchdowns on eight carries in Williamsville’s 53-14 playoff win over Petersburg PORTA on November 8th—boosting the Bullets to an 11-0 record and advancing them to the quarterfinals. The team will meet the winner of the game between Tolono Unity and Monticello in the next round. The State Journal-Register
