- ➤ On Monday, October 27, the Sixth Annual Channel1450 Fill the Trailer Food Drive sponsored by Illinois National Bank raised 3,244 pounds of food for the Central Illinois Food Bank in Springfield—Sacred Heart Griffin’s football team led with 1,579 pounds while teams from Rochester, New Berlin and Olympia contributed 912, 434 and 319 pounds respectively. - ➤ Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center partnered with St. Martin de Porres Center to launch a pet-food pantry with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Thursday at the center on South Grand Avenue East in Springfield. The new drop-off and pick-up site provides donated pet food to support local pet owners and is managed by Animal Control. The Sangamon Reporter

- ➤ Springfield offers a range of Halloween weekend events—adults may enjoy Trish and Mary's party at Vinegar Hill Mall, 107 W. Stanford St. Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., attend the New Soil Music Fest at Boondocks Pub, 2909 N. Dirksen Parkway, from 2 to 11 p.m., or join a Harvest art painting class at All Paint on 215 S. - ➤ Mr. T, known for his tough roles in Rocky III and The A Team, was inducted into the Illinois Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame on Monday afternoon in Springfield. The 73-year-old said his strength comes from his faith — marking a milestone in his career. WMAY

- ➤ After a hard day in the Sean Grayson trial, the Massey Commission met Monday night in Springfield and approved 27 recommendations to boost community mental health services and raise Sangamon County deputies’ pay—steps that Sontae Massey urged residents to help maintain. Officials also floated the idea of a plaque at the new transportation hub to honor Sonya Massey. WYMG
- ➤ Midwest Food Bank said its operations are facing delays due to the government shutdown announced on Oct. 28. The agency is working with local officials to adjust its food distribution schedules—affecting many families. 25 News

- ➤ Williamsville defeated Oakwood 4-0 in the 1A Sectional semifinal on October 28 as the Bullets did not allow a shot on goal.
