Plans are underway to build a museum and event space next to the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon in Washington Park that will restore safe public access and offer educational programs for children.

The project will cost millions and take five to seven years + local officials are calling on the community to help support the vision.

The University of Illinois Springfield will host its 47th International Festival on October 25 at the Recreation and Athletic Center—2171 University Drive from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and visitors will receive a digital program and food tickets to explore 16 cultural exhibits and 12 live performances.
