COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Plans are underway to build a museum and event space next to the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon in Washington Park that will restore safe public access and offer educational programs for children. - ➤ The University of Illinois Springfield will host its 47th International Festival on October 25 at the Recreation and Athletic Center—2171 University Drive from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and visitors will receive a digital program and food tickets to explore 16 cultural exhibits and 12 live performances. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Illinois director Ann Gillespie said federal policy changes that end enhanced premium tax credits will raise ACA plan premiums significantly next year and urged residents to speak with navigators on the new state-based website Get Covered Illinois as open enrollment begins November 1—ensuring they have options that fit their budgets. The marketplace will also offer special enrollment periods for pregnancy and for those filing tax returns—providing extra chances for coverage. 25 News

- ➤ Illinois youth deer hunters set a record by taking 4,714 deer from Oct. 11-13 this season, up from 4,097 deer last season+ Sangamon County hunters contributed 42 deer. Youth hunters with valid, unfilled permits will have another chance to hunt on Nov. 21-23 and Dec. 4-7. WMAY
- ➤ Chatham Glenwood secured a dramatic 35-31 win over Sacred Heart-Griffin on Oct. 17 when senior Blake Lehnen returned a kickoff and Grady Mueller scored a last-minute touchdown; the team rallied from a 24-7 fourth quarter deficit — keeping their unbeaten 8-0 record at the home athletic complex.
