- ➤ Agnes is a young tabby cat available for adoption since September 9 at Sangamon County Animal Control—she is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated, and she has tested healthy for both FIV and FeLV. WYMG
- ➤ A dedication ceremony was held today for a two-mile extension of the Sangamon Valley Trail into Menard County—state funding and Federal Transportation Enhancement Funds helped plan the extension as part of a nearly 13.5-mile trail connecting northern Sangamon and southern Menard counties from Springfield. - ➤ On Saturday, Springfield hosted a community outreach event to promote the Build Springfield program — a city plan that aims to improve community development and public safety — with local businesses and city departments offering bounce houses and free haircuts while city official Ethan Posey highlighted the volunteer spirit behind the effort. - ➤ Members of the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office are wearing pink patches—part of the Pink Patch Program—in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. - ➤ On Saturday, University of Illinois Springfield hosted the Out of the Darkness Walk that raised over $35,000 for suicide prevention efforts.
