- ➤ Edward Massey, 34, was indicted on charges including Second Degree Murder for the fatal shooting of Rekeea Jackson-Mason on Holly Drive in July—he will appear in court on September 22nd. WYMG
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students from Lincoln Magnet School won the Governor's Hometown Award after completing a project that brought seniors and young people together by sharing fishing stories and learning digital scam tips. The project, called Fishing Tales and Bytes of Wisdom, united generations — a deputy governor attended the award ceremony. WYMG

- ➤ The Springfield City Council will vote on Cory Brown’s nomination as the new director for Oak Ridge Cemetery on September 16+ Mayor Misty Buscher praised his experience in funeral services, noting the cemetery’s role as a local tourism draw due to Lincoln’s Tomb. - ➤ Sen. Sally Turner filed a bill that may let middle class families get a rebate to help pay rising home utility bills if they earn too much for low income aid but still need help. The bill would create a $500 million fund for fiscal years 2026 and 2027 and may also aid small business owners — a bipartisan proposal expected for discussion during the upcoming veto session in Springfield. - ➤ Molina Healthcare of Illinois will return the Molina Mobile Help Center to Springfield today at the Youth Service Bureau on Normandy Rd. It will offer free physicals, well-baby visits, prenatal and postpartum assessments, and blood pressure screenings from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.—with staff available to answer questions on health coverage and supportive resources. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A historic landmark in Springfield is set to be converted into 18 apartments for nurses that keep its original look while adding modern updates—this project is expected to cost about $6.7 million, supported by nearly $1 million in city grants.
