EDUCATION NEWS

  • Care Closet began at Fair View Elementary three years ago—expanding to support District 186 schools with essential items like shoes, backpacks and hygiene products. The initiative is funded by Horace Mann and community partners—improving student behavior and reducing bullying.  ABC 20

SPORTS NEWS

  • The UIS volleyball team lost its season opener Friday at TRAC to Central Missouri in three sets—25–16, 25–18, and 25–14—with head coach Laura Ulrich praising the team’s resilience before a supportive crowd; the invitational concluded Saturday with matches against Kentucky Wesleyan and Roosevelt.  University of Illinois Springfield
