- ➤ Beginning October 7, American Airlines will reinstate an early morning departure from SPI using a new 65-seat Embraer 170 jet (a 30% capacity boost from the previous aircraft) to give Springfield-area travelers easier access to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The enhanced schedule will allow connecting flights to over 150 domestic and international destinations. WYMG

- ➤ UIS will host free Friday Night Star Parties from Sept. 5 to Oct. 24 at its observatory on the roof of Brookens Library where people will view Saturn, the moon, the Ring Nebula and star clusters like M13 and M15. Special events include 'Charlie's Night' on Sept. 5, a moon event on Oct. 3 and guided tours during Homecoming on Oct. 17—hosted by astronomy professor John Martin. The State Journal-Register

- ➤ More than one third of state lawmakers earned 100 percent on the IL Environmental Council scorecard, with 39 representatives and 25 senators receiving perfect marks on 16 environmental bills. - ➤ The Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission is asking residents to fill out a traffic safety survey covering sidewalks, pedestrian signals, ADA compliance and driver violations to help make road improvements.
