Good morning, Springfield. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 21st of August.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Downtown business owner Doug Mayol said construction on 6th Street reduced parking and increased noise this summer, causing him to lose revenue during the busy tourist season. City officials said they planned the road repairs to update sidewalks and other elements ahead of next year's Route 66 Centennial, but the timing has hurt local businesses.  WAND-TV

  • Police arrested 42-year-old Joel L. Bennett at 2:53 a.m. on August 15 at 808 S 23rd St after a woman reported he stabbed her hand — he faces charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery — and he denied the stabbing, claiming the victim cut him when she tried to disarm him.  ABC 20

EDUCATION NEWS
