- ➤ RISE Springfield will host its annual Give & Take Professional Clothing Drive at the Salvation Army Community Center on August 22—donation day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.—and on August 23 when attendees can pick up professional clothing from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event accepts gently used professional attire to support those preparing for job interviews or workplace changes while any remaining items will be donated to local nonprofits. - ➤ Illinois does not tax monthly Social Security payments or most retirement income such as 401(k) plans and pensions, taxing only income earned from work. - ➤ Federal officials sent a letter to Illinois election officials on August 14 asking for a full voter registration file with complete details—such as driver’s license numbers and Social Security digits—by August 21. - ➤ Sixty-three high school football players who were juniors and sophomores in 2024 will return for the IHSA season in 2025—bringing talent from various schools and classes across the state. They were named to the all-state teams and include key positions such as quarterback, running back, and defensive line. The State Journal-Register
- ➤ Last Sunday at the Illinois State Fair grandstand, ARCA and Sportsman races took place while drivers such as Ken Schrader, Brenden Queen, and Alex Clubb discussed racing — engaging local fans with their insights. Springfield native Kelly Kovski finished third in the Allen Crowe 100 — marking a proud local achievement. WNNS
