- ➤ The Budweiser Clydesdales will appear at the Illinois State Fair from August 7 to August 16 with events that include parades and public viewings in Springfield. They are part of a nationwide tour celebrating 15 years of Anheuser-Busch's partnership with Folds of Honor — a program that gives scholarships to families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders. - ➤ About 100 members of the Springfield Education Association attended Monday’s Springfield School District 186 meeting as new contract negotiations resumed this week. A federal mediator joined the talks — with the current contract set to expire later this month. WMAY

- ➤ On Monday, the City Council approved a contract with Lincoln Capital Land LLC to purchase 20 megawatts of solar-generated power each year for 20 years at a maximum cost of 2.3 million dollars per year + Sun2o plans a solar array on 1200 acres west of Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport to boost the city's renewable energy supply.
