GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal EPA Regional Administrator Anne Vogel visited Springfield on Wednesday to tour the abandoned Pillsbury site and review federal funding of over three million dollars for abatement and demolition. Asbestos removal is nearly complete and demolition equipment is on site to begin early work this month + parts of the site have already been torn down while other areas are still being decontaminated. - ➤ At a recent board meeting, the Springfield Park District weighed its options for Robin Roberts Stadium as members discussed ongoing negotiations with the city amid rising calls for a change in ownership—existing regulations limit their ability to sell or transfer the property to non-profit groups. The board remains open to exploring other options for the stadium's future. FOX Illinois
