  • Springfield’s Lucky Horseshoes will hold a 'Chatham Strong' game tomorrow night to raise funds for Chatham YNOT organizations; Chief Storyteller Jamie Toole said players will wear special red jerseys that will be signed and auctioned—fans are urged to wear red.   • A 34-year-old man pulled from Springfield Lake Tuesday afternoon died after rescuers used the new Rapid Diver equipment at the 400 block of East Lake Shore Dr. — his death is under investigation by the county coroner's office and Springfield police.  WAND-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Monday, Springfield hosted The Great Race, an old car rally that offered a free public viewing of classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles built in 1974 or earlier—event director Jeff Stumb said the rally began in 1983 and traveled from St. Paul to South Carolina—marking a long-standing tradition in vintage vehicle shows.  ABC 20

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday afternoon, 150 children from kindergarten through high school received refurbished laptops from AT&T and COMPUDOPT at the Boys and Girls Club headquarters on 15th Street, complete with two years of free tech support and a new backpack — a boost for students who need reliable digital access. The program supports vital educational technology for kids from low-income families.  WYMG

  • Gov. JB Pritzker has a bill on his desk that will require all nursing homes and assisted living facilities to have an AED and have healthcare staff trained in its use — the measure, which passed unanimously in both the House and Senate this spring, will take effect on January 1, 2030.  WAND-TV
