- ➤ The Massey Commission released a list of ways to honor Sonya Massey on her one-year death anniversary and urged Springfield residents to wear purple on July 6 — plant purple flowers and attend a free outdoor concert on July 10. The commission noted the anniversary effect may increase emotional distress and encouraged the community to join healing circles and other remembrance events. ABC 20
- ➤ One year after the Adams Street fire displaced businesses and residents, officials noted that demolition ended after 10 months and announced repair work—featuring a new roof, interior overhaul, and plaza design—is set to begin by year’s end. Local owners reported that the four upstairs apartments are nearly fully occupied while they are talking to potential tenants for the former Café Moxo space. ABC 20
- ➤ The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office has launched Sheriff on the Square, a summer outreach series that lets residents meet law enforcement staff & enjoy a relaxed gathering with drinks, games and outdoor activities.
