CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan was sentenced to 7½ years in federal prison—his sentence includes three years’ probation and a $2.5 million fine following his conviction on 10 corruption charges, and he is scheduled to report to a federal facility on Oct. 13 while his attorneys seek bond pending appeal. - ➤ The Clean Slate Act, which would have sealed nonviolent criminal records twice a year, failed to reach the Senate before the session adjourned May 31—its sponsor is optimistic it will be reintroduced in the fall veto session.
