- ➤ Readers in Springfield voted for their top yoga spots in the 2024 Official Community Choice Awards, naming Pilates Studio of Springfield at 1305 Wabash Ave. as the winner and Ahh Yoga at 2201 W. White Oaks Drive and YMCA of Springfield at 601 N. 4th St. as finalists. Nominations for 2025 began today — voting continues until June 23 with winners to be announced in November. - ➤ The City of Springfield and CWLP are hosting Lake Springfield’s 90th Birthday Party today from 4 pm to 7 pm at Center Park near the Beach House — the event will feature music by Jason McKenzie, games, vehicle displays for youth, birthday cake and food trucks. Attendees may bring chairs and blankets and can park at the lot near the Sailboat Launch or the Lindsay Boat Launch — if rain occurs, the party will move indoors to the Beach House. WYMG

- ➤ A new walking path called Memorial Mile officially opened around Springfield Memorial Hospital and is available to patients, caregivers, and everyone seeking a safe way to walk. It is mapped from Carpenter Street down Rutledge over to Calhoun and up First Street—providing an accessible route for exercise and relaxation. WYMG

- ➤ The Illinois Sports Hall of Fame ceremony will be held in June at the Bank of Springfield Center, where entrepreneur Tim Turpin from Newburgh, Indiana will induct 50 to 75 sports figures including local icons. Friday’s events include an opening night with more than a dozen speakers plus a silent auction, while Saturday will feature a banquet dinner and the main induction ceremony.
