- ➤ Gas prices in Illinois dropped nearly 15 cents per gallon last week, easing pressure on drivers after several weeks of increases. The average for regular gas now stands at $4.90 while prices range from $3.99 to $6.29 — a marked gap compared to last year. The State Journal-Register

- ➤ Springfield's Senate Executive Committee advanced Senate Bill 2829 on Wednesday, a plan to boost downtown with an expanded Bank of Springfield Center and a renamed medical district. - ➤ The Williamsville Bullets beat the Tornadoes 6-1 on Wednesday in a 2A sectional semifinal, with Reese Larson driving in two runs and three teammates contributing RBIs — the Tornadoes ended with a 23-7-1 record. The Bullets will face Rochester for the sectional title Friday at 4:30 p.m. WNNS
- ➤ DP visited the Pleasant Plains Cardinals boys track practice today — chatting with relay members Kadyn Harmony, Judah Estill, and Braylon Heredith about their 10th straight sectional win and their plans for the state meet in Charleston this weekend. WNNS
- ➤ Sean Plessa hit a decisive walk-off double in the bottom of the 14th inning to give Rochester a 3-2 win over New Berlin in the 2A Pleasant Plains regional semifinal today. The Rockets will face the Cardinals at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the regional championship game. WNNS
