ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday at 3:20 p.m., a driver crashed an SUV through the YNOT Outdoor Kids Camp building in Chatham — killing four children and injuring six others while Illinois State Police investigated the incident and took the driver for evaluation.  WAND-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday a car crashed through the YNOT After School Camp in Chatham—killing four girls and injuring six children—and state police said driver Marianne Akers of Chatham has not been arrested as the investigation continues.  25 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After six months on the commission, Sontae Massey (cousin of Sonya Massey, fatally shot in her Springfield home on July 6) was named assistant managing director. Kelly Hurst was appointed managing director and Adam White became the public engagement coordinator as the commission continues to review conditions around the shooting.  WMAY
  • The Illinois Secretary of State’s Vehicle Show will celebrate its 75th anniversary this fall in downtown Springfield on Saturday, September 6 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a special focus on the 70th anniversary of the Chrysler 300 — commemorative license plates are available for $35 per pair until June 10, and owners may display them for up to 60 days before the show.  ABC 20
