CRIME NEWS

  • A 45-year-old woman was arrested on Friday afternoon at about 2:47 p.m. after State Police received multiple calls about her walking on Interstate 55 southbound near milepost 98 in Sangamon County and she was taken to Sangamon County Jail for an outstanding warrant.  WCIA

SPORTS NEWS

  • The State Journal-Register is running an athlete of the week poll that will close at noon Friday—nominees include local stars like Andy Antonacci who pitched a shutout and Lydia Auble who earned nine saves—and last week’s winner was Aubrey Vogel from PORTA/A-C Central.  The State Journal-Register
  • Normal West won the Lanphier Invite on April 26 with 133 points while Williamsville, the only local team, finished fourth with 49 points.  WMAY
  • Normal U-High scored four runs in the first inning to win 7 to 1 at home against Bloomington Central Catholic yesterday, with seven players each recording an RBI and Josh Jones pitching six innings and allowing two hits. The team will head to Mahomet-Seymour for their next game on Monday—promising a competitive matchup.  WNNS
  • The Pleasant Plains Cardinals won 2 to 1 over Eureka in their day two game of the Plains Baseball Invite on April 26th — Cooper Schallenberg and Drew Green drove in the Cardinals' runs while Andrew Zimmerman had the Hornets' only RBI.  WNNS
