- ➤ More than 40 volunteers, businesses, and organizations were honored at the 17th annual Good as Gold Ceremony held April 21 at the UIS Student Union—community leaders like Kathy Smith were recognized for their work with PBJ Springfield while Compass for Kids was named Organization of the Year. - ➤ Loukinens' on 4th in Springfield will close its doors on Saturday, May 3 after eight years of service because rising costs and changes downtown have made it unsustainable.
