GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ IDOT released a new Route 66 map marking its 100th anniversary that shows historical sites, cultural highlights and a timeline of the route's evolution with free copies available via its website (also at interstate rest areas). WMAY
- ➤ Senate Bill 2829 passed the Senate Local Government Committee last week and would rename and expand the downtown medical district (to Capital City Downtown Medical District) to add housing, research, and education facilities. State Sen. Doris Turner said the proposal aims to boost downtown economic development if approved. The Sangamon Reporter
- ➤ Judy Bowlby and Ryan Tebrugge join U.S. Rep. Mary Miller on the 15th District primary ballot, saying voters need a leader who attends local events (as many have not heard from Miller). They discussed these concerns on WTAX Morning Newswatch. WYMG
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Springfield health providers urge residents to practice mindfulness to ease stress during March’s busy schedule. They suggest simple steps — deep breathing, journaling, or a short walk at Lincoln Memorial Garden or Adams Wildlife Sanctuary — to help maintain focus and calm. The Sangamon Reporter
- ➤ Respiratory therapist Holly Whalen from Memorial Home Medical Supply on WTAX Morning Newswatch advised that cleaning CPAP machines (including filters and masks) daily may improve sleep apnea treatment and overall health.
