BUSINESS NEWS

  • Voting is open in the Makers Madness contest to choose the coolest product made in Illinois — residents may vote up to five times daily until 11:59 p.m. Mar. 22, with rounds continuing until an awards luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion on April 15.  The State Journal-Register
  • UGLY Restaurant & BAR in Springfield will close on March 31 after three years at 2312 Wabash Avenue; the owner thanks the community and encourages a final visit while asking that gift cards be used before closing.  FOX Illinois

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum showcases tools, barrels, flour sacks, and employee cartoons (plus photos of social events) that honor workers lost in World War II and will run for about six months.  WMAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Illinois lawmakers are advancing legislation to limit student cellphone use during school hours, a policy set to take effect for the 2026–27 school year to reduce classroom distractions. Governor Pritzker and local educators support the measure, and each district will decide how to enforce the rules.  The Sangamon Reporter
