- ➤ The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will offer free admission on Feb. 7 with a children’s literacy jam (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and on Feb. 12 with a Lincoln portrayal and live music; visitors can also view a rare signed copy of the Emancipation Proclamation during the exhibit. - ➤ Illinois is accepting applications for up to $24 million in grant funding to build manufacturing training academies at community colleges — eligible institutions outside Cook and collar counties can apply for grants between $3 million and $6 million through a competitive bidding process. WMAY
- ➤ Dr. Terrance Jordan, the incoming superintendent of the local district, said educators must start preparing before students attend class — his entire career has been with the schools and he promised to listen to community needs. WMAY
- ➤ UIS professor Lan Dong uses visual storytelling in her ENG 382 course, where students explore health care and illness through graphic narratives and infographic projects that have won awards.
