- ➤ PORTA Bluejays clinched a 1A regional title at home Saturday with 22 local athletes advancing to sectionals. The team will compete at Canton on Thursday & individual wrestlers will head to Olympia on Feb. 13. WNNS
- ➤ Five Jacksonville wrestlers, three Springfield wrestlers, and two Southeast wrestlers qualified for the 2A Granite City sectional after strong performances at a packed 2A Bethalto regional on Saturday. DaShawn Armstrong (Jacksonville) and Chris Hull (Southeast) won regional titles. WNNS
- ➤ The Illinois Springfield men's tennis team was picked fifth in the East Division of the 2026 GLVC Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced Friday — the Prairie Stars earned four points and will open their conference play in the spring. University of Illinois Springfield
- ➤ The Springfield softball team split its doubleheader on Friday with a 3-0 win and a 2-1 loss. The Stars will travel to Chattanooga on Feb. 6-7 to play in the Chattanooga Invitational. University of Illinois Springfield
- ➤ The Prairie Stars won 78-74 over UMSL on Saturday at TRAC with Britton Dutton scoring 19 points + Jordan Rice and Isaiah Davis adding 13 and 12 respectively, boosting their GLVC record to 7-1 as they head to road games at Maryville and McKendree. WNNS
- ➤ Senior Madelyn Miller-Ross and junior Marissa Roggensack will run in the women’s 5,000 meters at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday at 5:40 p.m. CT (6:40 p.m. ET) and hope to build on strong early-season performances since neither has raced the distance yet this season.
